Branding and corporate design for Waldkinder
The Waldkindergarten in Maria Anzbach, Lower Austria, is a collective journey of discovery - and not just for the children, who spend their days outside in the forest, by the stream or in the field. Whatever the weather and whatever the season, it's all about finding, playing, building, collecting and experiencing nature up close. The children learn how plants and animals live and understand how important nature is to us all. But the parents are also called upon to make the project, which is organised as an association, possible in the first place through a great deal of parental work.
But the commitment pays off: direct contact with nature strengthens the children mentally, socially and physically. They are sick less often, move more, play more imaginatively and learn early on how to stick together in a group. Studies show that forest children work particularly well in class later on.
The playful and anarchic nature of the forest children - as well as their illustrated companions, the ‘Woodies’ - is reflected in the flexible and lively branding. The concept is designed to ensure that communication remains flexible and that the customer can realise many things themselves. Natural materials and unconventional shapes leave room for creative development and make the design just as dynamic as the children who learn and grow in the forest.
